The event coincided with the celebration of World Hand Hygiene Day and witnessed broad participation from academic and medical leaders, infection control experts, representatives of the World Health Organization, and university hospitals.

In a step that reflects the pioneering role of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute in supporting globally prioritized health issues, the institute organized a high-level specialized scientific event entitled:“A Multidisciplinary Approach to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Bridging Innovation and Clinical Practice into Policy and Action” under the patronage of Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Acting Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, with the participation of a distinguished group of senior professors, experts, and specialists in the fields of medicine, scientific research, pharmacy, and health policy.

In a move reflecting the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute's commitment to integrating medical specialties as a cornerstone of healthcare system development, the institute hosted a high-level scientific meeting under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board. Organized by the Clinical Nutrition Unit, headed by Dr. Marwa Abdel Ghany, Deputy Supervisor of the Unit, in collaboration with the General Surgery Department, headed by Dr. Hisham El-Meligy, the specialized scientific meeting aimed to highlight the latest medical practices supporting improved patient outcomes.

As part of supporting the government direction toward innovation and digital transformation, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director and Chairman of the Board of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, the institute organized a distinguished workshop entitled “Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Artificial Intelligence Technologies” with the participation of several faculty members, researchers, and individuals interested in innovation and entrepreneurship.

As part of Egypt’s leading role in supporting and strengthening scientific cooperation with African countries, and in light of the distinguished status of the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute as one of the region’s foremost specialized research centers, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, the Department of Medical Malacology hosted Dr. Fotio Lambou Agathe, Lecturer at the Department of Animal Biology and Physiology, Faculty of Science, University of Buea, Cameroon, along with the student Ndumbe Daniel Wonjah Lifaka, for a scientific and training visit aimed at developing practical and research skills in studying the life cycle of schistosomiasis parasites and laboratory handling of the intermediate host, in addition to learning about the latest technologies used in this field.

Amid the rapid spread of nutritional rumors and misconceptions promoted by some social media platforms, and the resulting ill-considered health and treatment decisions that can harm patients, the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute continues its leading role as a scientific and medical beacon in protecting health awareness and guiding society towards sound scientific knowledge. In this context, the Institute organized a specialized awareness lecture entitled: “Correcting Misconceptions about Nutrition: Between Fact and Fiction,” under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, with the active participation of the Therapeutic Nutrition Unit in cooperation with the Community Service and Environmental Development Committee.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Chairman of the Board, the first issue (April 2026) of the "Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Journal for Medical Sciences" has been published.
