In a move reflecting its strategic direction towards expanding scientific collaboration and strengthening its role as a leading regional center for medical and applied research, the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute continues to solidify its position in supporting the health education and training system. This is achieved through building strategic partnerships aimed at developing competencies and linking scientific research with clinical practice, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services in Egypt and the Arab region.

In this context, a joint cooperation protocol was signed between the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, represented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Acting Director and Chairman of the Board, and the Arab Board of Pharmacy, represented by Professor Dr. Ali Ibrahim Al-Faydi, Secretary General of the Arab Pharmacists Union, General Coordinator of the Arab Board of Pharmacy, and Chairman of the Arab Scientists and Experts Authority (ABSO). This agreement falls within the framework of achieving the goals of the Arab Council for Pharmaceutical Specialties, which aim to develop pharmaceutical sciences and enhance scientific cooperation among Arab countries through their universities and research institutions.

The cooperation protocol aims to support the continuous scientific development of pharmaceutical sciences in the Arab world, unify standards for subspecialty pharmacy across Arab countries, prepare qualified pharmacists capable of competing locally and globally, support continuing pharmaceutical education by offering accredited academic and training programs, and build effective bridges of cooperation between Arab research and educational institutions to exchange expertise and knowledge.

For its part, the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, through this collaboration, focuses on strengthening its vision of translating scientific research outputs into practical clinical applications that directly benefit patients. This includes enhancing the skills of pharmacists through practical training within an integrated clinical research environment, developing specialized pharmacists capable of conducting clinical research in accordance with legal and ethical standards, and preparing a generation of pharmacist-researchers who can bridge the gap between the laboratory and the hospital. This will support the development of the Egyptian and Arab healthcare systems, particularly in the field of precision clinical pharmacy.

In a statement, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz emphasized that this protocol represents a strategic step towards maximizing the role of the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute in supporting pharmaceutical education and applied research. He explained the institute's commitment to playing an influential role in developing Arab healthcare professionals, not only through scientific research but also by translating this research into real-world, practical applications that directly impact patient health. He noted that this collaboration reflects a belief in the importance of Arab integration in building an advanced pharmaceutical system and establishes a new phase of specialized training and clinical research based on the latest international standards.

His Excellency added that the Institute is committed to expanding its partnerships with Arab and international scientific institutions, thereby enhancing its ability to provide advanced educational and training models and keeping pace with the rapid changes in the fields of clinical pharmacy and medical research.

The signing of the protocol was attended by a distinguished group of professors and specialists, including Professor Osama Badari, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Misr University for Science and Technology, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Arab Board of Pharmacy, and Supervisor of the Clinical Pharmacy Unit at the Institute; Dr. Walaa El-Madawy and Dr. Ahmed Hendawy from the Department of Pharmacology and members of the Clinical Pharmacy Unit at the Institute; and Dr. Yasmine Farouk and Dr. Doaa Hamdan from the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr University for Science and Technology.

This protocol represents a significant step towards building a more integrated and professional Arab pharmaceutical system, based on standardized criteria, the exchange of expertise, and the development of continuing education. This will strengthen the position of Arab research institutions, foremost among them the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, as a key driver for the development of the health and research sector in the region.
