Towards Better Surgical Outcomes: Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Organizes a Distinguished Scientific Event Combining Clinical Nutrition and General Surgery

In a move reflecting the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute's commitment to integrating medical specialties as a cornerstone of healthcare system development, the institute hosted a high-level scientific meeting under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board. Organized by the Clinical Nutrition Unit, headed by Dr. Marwa Abdel Ghany, Deputy Supervisor of the Unit, in collaboration with the General Surgery Department, headed by Dr. Hisham El-Meligy, the specialized scientific meeting aimed to highlight the latest medical practices supporting improved patient outcomes.

 

The event witnessed distinguished attendance from members of the General Surgery Department and the Clinical Nutrition Unit, along with active participation from Mina Pharm Pharmaceuticals, represented by Dr. Magdy Malak, Distribution Manager; Dr. Irene Bishara, Product Manager; Dr. Fady Sobhy, Product Manager; and Dr. Mohamed Osama, a medical representative, and the Mena Pharm team contributed to enriching the event by highlighting the latest treatment methods and pharmaceutical advancements. This supports the development and integration of the healthcare system and contributes to providing advanced treatment solutions that meet the latest scientific standards.

 

The meeting included a review of the latest developments in supporting patient health before and after surgical procedures, as well as a discussion of the latest advanced methods in treating and managing bariatric surgery cases. A distinguished scientific lecture entitled “Clinical Nutrition in Bariatric Surgery: A Key Determinant of Surgical Outcome” was presented by Dr. Mennat Allah Hossam, a member of the Clinical Nutrition Unit at the Institute. Her lecture focused on the vital role of clinical nutrition in improving surgical outcomes, accelerating patient recovery, and supporting the long-term success of surgical interventions. The event was held in a scientific atmosphere characterized by interaction and the exchange of expertise among all participating teams.

 

In this context, Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz emphasized that the integration of nutritional therapy and general surgery is no longer a supplementary option, but rather a fundamental pillar of modern healthcare.
