Prof. Dr. Hala El-Sayed Badawy’s Awards and Honors

Prof. Dr. Hala El-Sayed Badawy, Professor of Medical Microbiology and Infection Control Consultant, has received the following awards and honors:

1- Local Appreciation

Honored by the Supreme Committee for Infection Control at University Hospitals and awarded the title of Hand Hygiene Champion 2026 in recognition of her outstanding efforts.

Honored by the Supreme Council of Universities during the closing ceremony of Infection Control Day, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in recognition of her dedication and exceptional efforts in implementing infection prevention and control standards throughout 2025.

Honored at the closing ceremony of the IPC Day 2022, organized jointly by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals. She received the conference shield and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her distinguished contributions to infection prevention and control in Egyptian university hospitals during 2022.

Honored by the Supreme Council of Universities Conference on the Accreditation of Infection Prevention and Control Standards and Policies (2018) for her outstanding contributions to infection prevention and control at the institutional, national, and international levels.

Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Ministry of Health and the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University, for her active participation in the First Annual Conference of the Faculty of Medicine entitled "Towards a Healthy and Safe Environment: Challenges and Solutions," held on 4 June 2013 at the Scientific Center, New Surgery Hospital, Zagazig University, in collaboration with Sharkia Governorate, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Sharkia, and the Egyptian Medical Syndicate.

Awarded a conference shield and a Certificate of Appreciation by the Annual Conference of the Department of Internal Medicine on Infection Control in Hospitals, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, held from 10–12 April 2013.

Received the conference shield and letters of appreciation from the Greek professors who participated in the 5th International Conference on Infection Control at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) and the 3rd Egyptian–Greek Training Course on "Critical Care Skills and Related Infection Control Protocols," organized in cooperation with the Hellenic Aid for Africa, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Athens, the Arab Women Investors Union, Lions District 117A (Greece and Cyprus), and the Society of Practitioners of Infection Control–Egypt (SPIC-EGYPT), held from 2–5 March 2009.

Received a letter of appreciation from Mrs. Mero Kessoglou, United Nations Ambassador for HIV/AIDS in Africa and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Women Investors Union, in recognition of her efforts in organizing the "First Aid and Infection Control Aspects in Hospitals" training course, held at TBRI from 9–12 June 2008 in collaboration with the Greek and Egyptian Red Cross Societies, in the presence of the Greek Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Yannis Alexis Zepos.

Received a letter of appreciation from Dr. Yuji Oishi, President of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), in recognition of her efforts in supporting the Egypt–Japan Year through the outstanding organization of the 4th International Conference on Infection Control, entitled "Neglected Infectiology and Associated Infection Control Problems," held at TBRI from 10–13 November 2008, particularly for facilitating the participation of distinguished Japanese experts.

Received a research award for the paper she presented at the 8th Congress of the International Federation of Infection Control (IFIC), held in Budapest, Hungary, from 18–21 October 2007.

Awarded Certificates of Appreciation for her distinguished contributions to promoting infection prevention and control practices during the International Infection Prevention Week (16–22 October 2006 and 14–20 October 2007), organized annually by the International Federation of Infection Control (IFIC), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Network for Infection Control (EMRNIC).

Received Certificates of Appreciation and commemorative shields from October 6 University in recognition of her continuous and fruitful collaboration in the Annual Scientific Conferences of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, held in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

· Received the conference shield at the 5th International Conference of the Society of Practitioners of Infection Control–Egypt (SPIC-EGYPT) and the 6th International Conference on Infection Control at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI), in recognition of the outstanding national and international contributions of the Institute's Infection Control Unit under her leadership. She also served as Secretary-General of the Conference, which was organized in collaboration with the German Society of Hospital Hygiene (DGKH), the Tunisian Society of Hygiene and Patient Safety (STHSS), the Turkish Disinfection, Antisepsis and Sterilization Association (DAS), and the World Forum for Hospital Sterile Supply (WFHSS) under the theme "New Horizons in Infection Prevention," held from 24–26 November 2014.

· Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Electricity Hospital, affiliated with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to a scientific seminar held on 2–3 April 2006.

· Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by Dr. Abdel Hamid Abaza, Secretary-General of the General Organization for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes, during the 3rd International Conference on Infection Control, held at TBRI from 12–15 February 2007.

· Received a letter of appreciation from Eng. Salah Saad, Head of El Warraq City Council, for her organization of and participation in the Health Promotion Program held at TBRI from 23–25 March 2008.

· Received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Arab Women Investors Union in recognition of her valuable participation in the 5th Arab Women Investors Forum and International Cooperation Exhibition, held from 23–26 April 2008.

· Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Pioneers Club in 10th of Ramadan City for her pioneering role in supporting youth and her active participation in the H1N1 Influenza Prevention Campaign in 2009.

· Received Certificates of Appreciation at the 13th Annual Conference (2007) and the 15th Annual Conference (2009) of the Arab Society for Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobials for her distinguished performance as a faculty member.

· Awarded a commemorative shield by the Jordanian Armed Forces Medical Services Directorate in 2010 in recognition of the infection control training programs conducted for healthcare professionals from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan between 2004 and 2010.

· Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Department of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University, for her contribution to the department's scientific activities (24 May 2010).

 Received a letter of appreciation from the Egyptian Red Crescent Society in recognition of her efforts in organizing a hospital infection control training program in collaboration with the Society and TBRI for healthcare workers from Abu El-Reesh Japanese Hospital and Abu El-Reesh El-Mounira Hospital.

 Received a letter of appreciation from the World Health Organization (WHO) for participating in the organization's Hand Hygiene Awareness Campaign, including her contribution to the event organized by the Society of Practitioners of Infection Control–Egypt (SPIC-EGYPT) at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital on 5 May 2009.

· Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Arab Women Investors Union, chaired by Dr. Hoda Galal Yassa, and the Pioneers Club in 10th of Ramadan City, chaired by Eng. Mohamed Mahmoud Abou El-Enein, in recognition of her pioneering role in supporting youth and her active participation in the Avian Influenza (H5N1) and Swine Influenza (H1N1) awareness campaign under the slogan "No Development or Investment without Healthy Hands," launched on 9 September 2009.

Received a commendation from Dr. Hoda Galal Yassa, President of the Arab Women Investors Union, in recognition of her efforts in organizing the First Aid Training Course, during a dinner held in honor of Mrs. Mero Kessoglou, United Nations Ambassador for HIV/AIDS in Africa and Member of the Union's Board of Trustees, on 16 June 2008.

Received a commendation from Mrs. Mero Kessoglou, United Nations Ambassador for HIV/AIDS in Africa and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Women Investors Union, in recognition of her efforts in organizing the training course held at TBRI under the auspices of the Union in collaboration with the Greek and Egyptian Red Cross Societies. The recognition was presented during a dinner honoring H.E. Yannis Alexis Zepos, Ambassador of Greece to Egypt, on 19 June 2008.

Received letters of appreciation from distinguished international speakers who participated in the 4th International Conference on Infection Control, held at TBRI from 10–13 November 2008, in recognition of the excellent organization, scientific quality, and hospitality.

 

 Received a letter of appreciation from Eng. Salah Saad, Head of El Warraq City Council, for organizing and participating in the Health Promotion Program held at TBRI from 23–25 March 2008, which increased public awareness of infection prevention and control from 38% to 86%, reflecting the effectiveness of the training program.

Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her outstanding contribution to promoting infection prevention and control practices during the International Infection Prevention Week (2006 and 2007), organized by the International Federation of Infection Control (IFIC), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Network for Infection Control (EMRNIC).

Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Arab Women Investors Union for attending and actively participating in the interactive health and education sessions and the accompanying exhibition during the 5th Arab Women Investors Conference, held under the patronage of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, at Ramses Hilton Hotel, from 23–26 April 2008.

Received a Silver Plaque presented by Mr. Mahmoud Abou El-Leil, former Governor of Giza and former Minister of Justice, on behalf of the Businesswomen Association for Development, engraved with her name in recognition of her active role in the conference.

Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Egyptian Society for Infection Control, documenting her membership since 2000 and recognizing her distinguished contributions to the Society's activities.

· Received a Certificate from the Izumo Host Family Club, established to support international physicians studying at Shimane Medical University, recognizing her active participation in the Club's cultural and social activities, which left a remarkable impression on both colleagues and the local Japanese community. Several of these activities were featured in the Club's fifth annual magazine.

Received a Letter of Appreciation from Prof. Nabila El-Ebrashy, Chairperson of the Giza Branch of the National Council for Women, in recognition of her active participation and voluntary efforts in the medical convoy to Bahariya Oasis from 19–21 June 2002.
